BRAZIL - Patrocínio Paulista, Alta Mogiana
The Fazenda São Francisco is located in Alta Mogiana, a region in the NE of the state of Sao Paulo, which, with over two centuries of history in coffee production, boasts now several small and modern coffee farms.
At an altitude ranging from 800 to 900 amsl, the farm covers an area of 483,73 hectares, half of whose are used for coffee trees. Harvest takes place between June and September.
Currently, it is owned by Mr Nilton Messias de Almeida, once a judge and currently lawyer, but the coffee production is managed with passion and care by his son Nilton Junior.
The name São Francisco comes from some peculiar facts from the life of its owner. First of all, by the devotion of the entire family to San Francis of Assis; then because he was born near to the shores of the river São Francisco (in the state of Minas Gerais); further because he graduated at São Francisco University and a tlast because his own father's name was Francisco.
Thanks to its privileged location and the typical geographical shape of the Alta Mogiana region, Fazenda São Francisco excels for the high quality of its production and the continuous attention to the socio-environmental quality of its processes, UTZ certified.
