Farmers thus have the opportunity to grow in the shade of the forest a specialty robusta coffee of the highest quality with unique characteristics of aroma, taste, and at the same time exceptional physical characteristics.

The association’s 1116 members were awarded a 4C compliance and a verified code of conduct.

The association’s activities are led by a young farmer named Kizza Isaaya who has received training directly from NUCAFE in order to best direct the association and provide the right guidelines to farmers on leadership and governance, marketing, and agronomy.
As a young farmer among many farmers, I would like to bring forward a development process model such that other young people together can also carry on their own businesses in order to improve their living conditions,” young Kizza Isaaya told us. “As an association, we are driven and must be driven by our passion to improve our living conditions and especially the welfare of families, to provide them with the food, water, health services, and education to transform communities
through the production of high-quality coffee that meets the demands of buyers.”

The Mabira Coffee Growers Association is working with NUCAFE and other partners in order to engage youth in the coffee production chain thus dramatically decreasing unemployment in these communities. Young people are stimulated in starting their own coffee farming businesses especially by starting coffee nurseries, as they do not require a large outlay of money and also they are useful and in high demand. The nurseries that are run by these young farmers have given a boost to coffee production in the country’s communities and have also helped make local coffee production more traceable.

Also to further improve the quality of coffee grown, Mabira’s CFA acquired a facility that can process coffee using the wet method. With this method, the coffee more closely meets market demands and adds value to the final product.
